Annual Conference

A major activity of the Association is its Annual Conference. The first IASSI Annual Conference was held at the Social Science Policy Statement at the India Habitat Centre, New Delhi on 8 March 2001. Since then, each year the annual conference has been held in various locations focusing on different socially relevant themes. The 18th IASSI Annual Conference will be held during 3-5 December, 2017 at the Acharya Nagarjuna University, Guntur (Andhra Pradesh). The conference is being jointly organised by the Acharya Nagarjuna University and the Centre for Economic and Social Studies (CESS). The Conference President is Professor R. Radhakrisna, Chairman, CESS.

The seventeenth Annual Conference of the Association was organized in 2016 in collaboration with the Centre for Research in Rural and Industrial Development (CRRID), Chandigarh. The conference was held on December 9-10, on the broad theme Education and Development: Issues, Challenges and Opportunities. The event hosted more than 40 paper presentations with participation from Indian and international scholars.

The event was presided over by Former Prime Minister, Dr. Manmohan Singh, who also delivered the inaugural address.A special Lecture on “Education and Development” was also delivered at the inaugural session by Dr. Geeta Gandhi, Chair of Education, Economic and International Development, University College of London (UCL).
